Volumes have been written on this matter, and the contention and feuds about where the "hot" video slots are located in the casino are still raging – over 60 years after slot machine games were 1st added to the gaming floor in casinos.
The traditional rule is that the very best slot machine games were positioned just inside the door of the casino; so that potential gamblers going by would see real jackpot winners and be infatuated enough to come unto the gaming floor … play. Our opinion is that this is not so anymore.
Practically all of the large casinos today are huge complexes and you no longer can see inside from the sidewalk, so there is no longer a reason to have the ‘loose’ one armed bandits close-by any entrances.

If they played slot machine games at all, they would simply put in their loose change because they happened to be walking by. Win or lose, they would very often not stop to keep playing. And the last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!
